I like the black. It's different than the silver and I would buy it. Especially with the red latch. That's pretty cool. I don't know if I would pay much extra for black, but I would probably purchase the black over the silver.
I prefer the black version, but many consumers like choosing between both black and silver depending on the color of their systems.
I definitely think black makes more sense. Not sure that it would be worth extra money though...
I am waiting for a (hopefully) black version with the eSATA bracket with power connector as shown earlier in the blog. Any hope of this coming soon?
Also will need extra trays (hopefully with cases for them also mentioned in an earlier blog entry)...
I prefer the black
I think if the price difference is not that great, people will be willing to spend little extra for the black drive. I love black cover over white. I think the white/silver is nice, but black is even better looking (not sure about red tab though:)). Still go for black, they are super nice.
all well and good but when can i buy either in the UK???
I bought this item and it works great! In usb mode only. I have an eSATA port on my mobo and if I power off the device in windows XP, the os freezes thinking that I just lost a HD.
I've looked around to see if there's an update to this but I can seem to locate a good place to download some sort of update to the product.
I've seen many people upset with this. Interesting..
If you know if there's a quick fix, please post a comment and i'll visit the page daily to see if there's a workaround or fix. Thanks!
$5 more for black? Maybe. 25% more for black? Not a chance, and I may scratch the whole purchase because I don't like being treated like a sucker.
I think black is more attractive. I think people would be willing to pay more for black - but probably only $5-10 more.
Black is almost always better. Not only is it more attractive, it matches just about any system out there. Go to Best Buy and look at the ratio of white/silver PCs they're selling to black PCs.
A BLACK ONE WOULD JUST LOOK NICER
PLEASE MAKE A BLACK VERSION
I USE A HOME THEATER PC IN MY LIVING ROOM
THE PC CHASSIS IS BLACK
THE TV IS BLACK+METALIC SILVER
THE TV DESK CONTAINING ALSO THE PC IS SHINY AND MIRRORED BLACK
ALL IS BLACK
HAVINBG A WHITE ICY DOCK WOULD KIIL ESTHETIC THIS HARMONY
I think you need to provide both for the customer and let them choose. I would pick black, but a lot of Mac people would probably go for white.
No extra charge...sorry.
I have to admit that the Black is hot, but white has its' place too.
I would make both, and wouldn't charge extra for either.
Although if you marketed the White one right you could ask for a higher price there, as Apple fans seem to really dig paying more for rather ordinary hardware :)
